The 4Cs - the key a valuable Diamond
Colored diamonds
* Diamonds come in a range of natural colours, from totally colourless to yellow
* A completely colourless diamond is most rare
* Colour is a personal choice - choose your diamond based on how its subtle shade appeals to you
The More Pure the Colour in a Diamond, the More Rare Diamonds are graded by colour, starting at D and continuing through the alphabet. Truly colourless stones, graded D, treasured for their rarity and value, are highest on the Diamond Quality Pyramid.
While many diamonds appear colourless, they may actually have subtle yellow or brown tones and these colour grades include P and Q. Although still beautiful, they will be less rare and therefore less valuable. To appreciate the simple beauty of each individual stone, you should compare diamonds side by side with a diamond grader.
"Fancy diamonds" - in well defined colours that include red, pink, blue, green and canary yellow - are highly prized and particularly rare.
